Green Life Smoothie

This is a great pick me up drink that is filling, tasty and nutritious. Here is what you will need to add to your grocery pantry, if you don’t already have it.

IMG_4998Green Matcha tea powder provides polyphenols, which have anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties. Green tea also is high in catechins, which help prevent cell damage. The brand I like is Organic Matcha by Kiss Me Organics, culinary grade green tea powder from Japan. You can find it like everything else on Amazon, but stores like Whole Foods, Mom’s, Trader Joe’s and Sprouts Market will sell a brand that is organic. Green Matcha tea contains some caffeine.

Pea Protein is easily digested protein and is great way to include additional safe protein into the diet. There are many good brands, look for one that is organic and has minimal other ingredients.

Take out your blender and put in the following:

1 cup of Organic almond milk. (You can use other plant-milks such as Hemp, Soy, or rice)

1 handful of organic spinach. Spinach is high in niacin, zinc, vitamins A,B6, C,E and K, and nutrients such a folate, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus and other micro nutrients. Truly a super food if there was ever one.

1 banana

1 scoop of Pea protein

1 teaspoon of Green Tea Matcha

Blend until smooth and off you go… Enjoy!
